Tips to Keep Your Information Secure When Shopping Online

Online shopping has become something almost everyone has done, multiple times, in the past few months. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when stores and restaurants shut down, getting the necessities often relied on e-commerce. While essential businesses were still open, many people opted to stay away, doing their ordering online to help flatten the curve.

There is no question that online shopping is convenient, and it can be fun; however, you have to use caution. You must take the proper steps to protect yourself and your data from hackers and other nefarious individuals. Some tips to help you stay safe while shopping online can be found here.

Research First

Before buying from any online retailer, make sure you conduct a simple search and look for reviews from past consumers. Also, visit the company’s website, where you can find even more information. Take some time to find out if the company is reputable and honest.

Look for Security

This is another important step. A secure site will use SSL – secure socket layer – to keep your information protected. SSL is considered the standard security protocol that will encrypt your information. You can find these sites by looking at the URL. Any site that has an SSL will begin with “HTTPS” instead of the typical “HTTP.” Another sign of a secure website is if there is a lock in the address bar next to the URL. If you see that, you can have confidence the site is using additional security to help safeguard your information.

Watch Your Statements

Always check your billing statements to make sure there are no unauthorized charges. If you notice something unusual, be sure to report it right away. Be sure to be proactive with this and check your statements regularly.

As you can see, there are several ways you can protect yourself and your information when you are shopping online. Be sure you keep these tips in mind to avoid any adverse issues.

Tips to Keep Your Kids Safe as They Head Back to School

COVID-19 is something that has been reported in children of every age. However, the cases in kids seem much lower than what is being seen with adults. Most of the evidence available now suggests that children usually experience a milder form of the illness than most adults, with most children who are infected presenting no symptoms or symptoms that are very mild.

However, there have been new reports of a more serious systemic inflammatory response. This is a new disease that is pretty scary for parents, but it is considered to be rare.

While this is true, it is still important to prepare your kids for going back to school, if they are returning. Some tips that will help ensure they stay healthy and don’t pose a risk to anyone else can be found here.

Make Hand Washing a Game

Teaching your kids the right way to wash their hands using soap and water is actually simple. However, this is an effective way to ensure they stay safe. Be sure your kids know what to do and how to get their hand’s germ free. Also, make sure that your kids know they should wash their hands while at school and throughout the day.

Be a Good Example

If you want your kids to do what they need to so they can stay healthy, you have to lead by example. Children will learn from the adults they are around. If you make it a habit to remain healthy and use good hygiene, so will your kids.

As your kids go back to school, they are going to be on their own when it comes to staying healthy. Be sure you use these tips to help them avoid getting sick.
